Pluralsight is the premier online training platform for technology professionals and you can get free access for the entire month of April 2021 during their Free April campaign. For Sitecore Developers, this means that you will have access to the entire Sitecore learning path including all of my Unoffical Sitecore Training courses that I have published to date. This learning path takes you through the basics of Sitecore websites. First you’ll learn about Sitecore and its capabilities as an experience management tool. You’ll then learn how to build your first Sitecore Helix website. And finally, you’ll learn about administration for your newly built website.
Getting Started with Sitecore Helix
Getting Started with Sitecore Helix teaches you the basics of Sitecore ASP.NET web development using Helix architecture. Throughout this course, you will build a sample website as you can code along with me and you can also use it as a reference for your own development. This course covers everything you need to know to get up to speed quickly. You will learn how to set up a local Sitecore development environment, install Sitecore, and build a dynamically driven web page using Helix architecture with content managed in Sitecore. You will build a Sitecore MVC Visual Studio Project Using Helix from scratch. You will see how Sitecore combines content with presentation to produce the final web page using layouts, renderings, and data templates. And finally, we will review some learning resources to help you continue your studies in Sitecore development.
By the end of this course, you will know the basics you need to get started building your own Sitecore implementations using Helix architecture.
Building a Sitecore Helix Website
Building a Sitecore Helix Website teaches you recommended practices when developing Sitecore websites. Throughout this course, you will build a fully functional Sitecore convention themed website featuring Sitecorians from around the world. This course covers everything you need to know to get up to speed quickly. You will learn how to create Sitecore Helix projects in Visual Studio using the Sitecore Helix Templates Visual Studio Extension and Sitecore Rocks, work with the most widely used field types, and support editing content in the Experience Editor. You will work with different types of media in the Sitecore Media Library and look at how media items are protected in Sitecore. You will understand how to configure a Sitecore production environment and how to create multi-site implementations.
By the end of this course, you will be able to build a complete Sitecore Helix website using the Sitecore Helix Templates Visual Studio Extension.
Administering a Sitecore Website
Administering a Sitecore Website walks you through administering Sitecore websites using the security tools available out of the box. In this unofficial Sitecore training course, you will learn how to create and manage users, roles, and domains using the User Manager, Role Manager, and Domain Manager. First, you will view Sitecore Security access rights in the Access Viewer and assign access in the Security Editor in order to secure the Sitecore interfaces, templates, content items, and workflows. Next, you will understand how to transfer users, roles, domains, and security settings between environments using packages and serialization. And finally, you will learn how to create custom workflows and workflow actions.
By the end of this course, you will be able to administer a complete Sitecore website using the security access tools that are available out of the box.
Coming Soon! Managing Sitecore Docker Containers
I am currently working on a new course on Managing Sitecore Docker Containers with Carlos Rodriguez. You do not need any prior experience with Docker to follow along with the demos, we will walk you through everything as we create, build, and deploy Sitecore using Docker containers.
